Downloading and installing LAXPCsoft package

LAXPCsoft is an essential package which allows user to extract and analyze information from the LAXPC’s raw data, such as the intensity and spectral properties of X-ray sources. It is named as ‘LAXPCsoftware_Aug4.zip’ and integrated in the AstroSat Science support cell. Below are the steps to intsall or configure the LAXPC software.

• First, create a diretory in your home (or anywhere else) called LAXPCsoftware.

$ mkdir LAXPCsoftware

• Next, copy and unzip the downloaded file in the LAXPCsoftware directory.

$ unzip  LAXPCsoftware_Aug4.zip

Output : LAXPCsoftware_Aug4

• Put the following commands in the ‘.bashrc’ file located at your home directory.

$ export LAXPCSOFT="/home/path/LAXPCsoftware/LAXPCsoftware_Aug4/"
$ export LAXPCPATH="$LAXPCSOFT/LAXPC_CAL/"
$ export PATH="$PATH:$LAXPCSOFT/laxpc_bin"

• Open a new terminal and configure

$ ./Configure

Note: if there are any errors. If there is error message then use command ./Configure_curl
